GREEN BAY, WI- (WGBW) – Santa Claus took a moment out of his preparations for his Christmas Eve deliveries to visit with Civic Media’s Maino and the Mayor on Monday morning.

Santa said the toys he has been asked for this year are related to Bluey, Barbie, slime kits, and dinosaurs. But he said he always keeps four things in mind for happy children on Christmas morning.

“If you really want to please the kids, (give them) four things: one they want, one they need, one to wear, and one to read!” Santa said. “If they follow that list, they’ll have a wonderful Christmas.”

Santa’s advice

Santa said some of the children on the nice list have asked what he wants for Christmas. And he has a special answer for them.

“Santa wants you to listen to your mom and your dad, and to do your chores. Be good in school, and have a good relationship with your friends,” said Santa. “But most of all, love yourself and be kind to yourself because kids today are pretty harsh on themselves sometimes.”

He reminded listeners that he and the spirit of Christmas are for kids of all ages.

“You know, I was at a nursing home the other day, and there was Lily–104 years old,” Santa said. “And Lily looked me in the eye and said, ‘I’ve always wanted to touch Santa’s beard.’ And I looked her in the eye and said, ‘Let’s do it THIS year,’ Ho! Ho! Ho!”

Santa says the reason he has been able to visit children with gifts for so many years, is because he treats every day like Christmas Day. And he eats plenty of milk and cookies.

“Well, you know, actually, because I have to travel the world in one night, cookies and milk are my fuel!” Santa said.
