MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Ben Wikler has a big endorsement as he seeks to lead the Democratic National Committee.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) is supporting Ben Wikler, the chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, to lead the party on the national stage.
In a statement first given to Politico Thursday morning, Schumer called Wikler a tenacious organizer and proven fundraiser. The outlet reported that Schumer is currently the highest-ranking Democrat to weigh in on the race.
In the November election, Kamala Harris lost Wisconsin to Donald Trump. However, Democrats flipped 14 seats in the state legislature.
Also running alongside Wikler are Minnesota Democrats chair Ken Martin, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, former Department of Homeland Security official Nate Snyder, and New York state senator James Skoufis.
Candidates are ramping up their efforts to lead the Democratic National Committee. There are four candidate forums in the next month.
The DNC Chair election is February 1.
